 Welcome to Toula Therapies

Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch to engage with the nervous system, cerebrospinal fluid and rhythms of the body to release tension and trauma held in the system.

The approach is suitable for people of all ages, from new-born babies to the elderly.

Craniosacral therapy hands-on treatment

Zoë is a registered member of the Craniosacral Therapy Association (RCST), having trained both in London and the USA.  Please see the 'About' page for more information.

"I had a course of sessions with Zoë over about a year. The change and difference they made to my life is really profound. Zoë's approach is gentle, clear and caring. I found she is able to connect very deeply and listen to the body in a way I haven't experienced before. Within seconds of laying down, I would sink into a deep space and, after the session, it was obvious that parts I had not been aware of had been reached and given the chance to heal. I am so grateful for Zoë's work and cannot recommend her highly enough."

Craniosacral Treatment Adult

What happens in a Session?

A written case history is taken at the first appointment, both to gather information and to gain a clear understanding of the reasons for your visit. You remain clothed during treatment and will usually lie face up or on your side, or you may be seated. Light contact is made with different areas of your body, including the head, spine and pelvis, encouraging the body to relax and make the changes it needs.

Each appointment lasts approximately 1 hour.

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive yet profoundly beneficial holistic approach to treating and releasing tension and trauma held in the body. These symptoms may have been caused by stress, injury, illness or mental trauma, causing the system to become overwhelmed and unable to heal on its own.

This inherent healing ability is supported by the practitioner, who listens with their hands, much like a counsellor listens to your words with their ears. They make light contact with different areas of the body, engaging with the nervous system, the cerebrospinal fluid and the subtle rhythms being expressed, thereby detecting blocks and quietly assisting the system to release and find its way back to optimum health.

Craniosacral Therapy addresses the root cause of the issues, not merely the symptoms, and its origins go back to the late 19th Century, with the 'Father of Osteopathy, Dr Andrew Taylor Still. He, in his turn, learned a great deal from the Shawnee Indians, a tribe of American Indians with whom he spent time. Their approach to health and healing included bodywork and Dr Still often used the phrase "Taking an Indian look" at something, so the roots of Craniosacral Therapy can be said to reach far back through time.

How many sessions can I expect?

As Craniosacral Therapy supports the physical, mental and emotional reasons behind the symptoms, reaching the source of the issue, rather than treating merely the symptoms may require a minimum of 8 treatments in order to have meaningful and lasting benefit.

Packages are available for 8 or 12 consultations. Please enquire for further information, I look forward to speaking with you and answering any questions you may have.
